Week Four

I’ve managed to fuck my knees i think, going to try and work through it so we’ll see how it goes. I think i over did it on friday, the usual 30 minutes of running but i upped the pace a bit to see if i would manage, i think i did fitness wise, i didnt have a heart attack but my knees just dont work like they used to.

I’ve been hitting the weights too, nothing hardcore, just some fairly light weights and high reps. Friday i did some legs too which may have contributed to the knee issue, we’ll see today if there’s anything really bad going on i guess.

Day three

January 15th, 2010 by Administrator

Day three of the gymnasium attendance, i managed to run the whole 30 minutes, which for an unfit, fat fuck is not too shabby at all. Got to 4 k in the half hour which means it’s a pretty slow pace but for now i’m all about the heart rate and sweat.

I made an interesting discovery too, it’s so much easier if you get in time with the right song, i’ve sorted a play list and there are a few winners in there that just don’t fail to make it easy, the time flies by. I’m sure experts and regular gym goers are all well aware of this phenomenon and i may even have made the discovery myself in gym visits gone by, but for now i’m just sitting pretty pleased with myself.

I also lifted some weights today for the first time in a while so will probably feel that tomorrow. I’m gonna have the weekend off and start again Monday, hopefully with a five day program.

Nice, nice, nice………………i liked it a lot. Basically, you can take any historical era and that’s kind of the story here, white man arrives in new place, tries to integrate with indigenous people (or force their religion and lifestyle on them) then discovers some valuable commodity where they live so they are in the way and you a have a basic ‘move or we’ll move you’ scenario. It doesn’t really get old for me though, i just like that whole stand up for your rights kinda thing and, apart from maybe one too many rousing speech and a bad guy who was a little too like the general in Toy Soldiers for my liking, awesome film, highly recommended.

See it at iMax though, although 3D has come a hell of a long way since jaws, you need to be fully immersed to appreciate it. I might actually go again and i can’t remember the last time i saw a film at the cinema and actually wanted to go again. Oh wait, probably The Dark Knight. Anyway, nice, nice, nice.

new year, same old shit

January 11th, 2010 by Administrator

So, i joined a gym on account of the fact that over the last 2 and a half years i’ve managed to put back most of the weight i lost. I’m gutted about it to be honest but then, i only have myself to blame and certainly don’t deserve any sympathy. You don’t gain nearly 3 stone over night, though it’s fair to say that at least a stone of it has been gained since the end of August.

It is however important for me to point out that this isn’t a new years resolution, i generally don’t make them and this has been something other than that, my resolution this year was to watch less tv and generally procrastinate less hahahahahaha…….. no different really from past years, though now seems like a better time to just generally do more, more learning, more activities, more…………..stuff, times a wastin as they say.

Happy new year to all, let’s just try and put the shocker that was 2009 behind us, though we won’t forget those who didn’t join us in 2010.

Buttons

The spare button on a shirt or pair of trousers never falls off does it? so why don’t they sew the actual buttons on with the same thread or sewing technology?

Westerplatte

The 182 Polish troops defending the Polish fort were expected to resist for about 12 hours. Despite coming under fire from the air, sea and land, they held out against a force of more than 3,000 Germans for seven days.
