Just got back from my holiday in portugal. Its a pretty cool place, all the people are really friendly and helpful with the exception of a certain Cristiano Ronaldo and a couple of others! Oh well, we’re out now and thats that, no sense in dwelling. I dont think we were capable of winning it the way we were playing and with the tactics a certain four eyed Swede had employed anyway.
Enough about that. I will be posting some photos of the hol but for now, check this out:
Although the picture unfortunately doesnt do it justice as i had to take it on the sly due to not being allowed to photogragh inside the chapel. The story goes like this; There was an earthquake and this church was destroyed, in the rebuilding process they found that all the past monks had been buried under the church so they had to dig up all a lot of the bones in order to do foundations, when they were finished they were left with a big shiny new church and a big unsightly pile of bones.
So, they added a chapel and to avoid further expense they used the bones of the monks!!! Genius!
Its a pretty horrible idea in my opinion and the place doesnt have a very nice feeling about it but it is also amazing in a roadside accident sort of curiosity way.
When i got back i wanted to check this whole thing out further so i googled “Chapel of Bones” and found that there are a few of them in portugal and scattered around Europe so it seems that it was almost common place at some point in history. Unfortunately i wasnt on the ball enough to find out more while i was there, like when it was built and such but i’m sure there’ll be info somewhere on the net for those with a thirst.
